A Place to Learn, A Place to Belong

Free Horizon Montessori is an excellent place for your student to learn and grow academically, but one of the things that makes our school special is that we recognize that children are so much more than their test scores. At Free Horizon, the school experience is carefully designed to address the developing needs of the whole child.

That includes excellent academic preparation for high school, college, and life experiences. It also includes focusing on personal and social growth to prepare students to lead outstanding lives.

A key component of our school is to address a sense of belonging, an important need on Maslow's hierarchy. To truly develop as a whole person, students need to feel like they belong, not just in their own families, but within a wider community. Free Horizon fosters that sense of belonging by being a welcoming and inclusive place. Students can feel that they are an important part of the community, proud of who they are and of the vibrant diversity they bring to the community.

Our Classrooms

Multiage classrooms are an important part of the Montessori method.  Our classrooms have two or more grades of students learning together and from one another.  Older students are role models for younger students, and can help them learn new skills.  Showing another student a skill and explaining it are learning experiences for older students, and demonstrations of mastery.

See here for more information on multiage classrooms.
