Summer Learning

ACADEMIC

Lexia access is available through July 31st.

Happy Number accounts are available until June 30th.

With the summer quickly approaching, it’s a great idea to start planning now what activities you’ll use to avoid summer learning loss. Here are a few, helpful suggestions-

Studies show that reading four to five books over the summer has a positive impact on a child. Plus, buying or downloading books that your child is interested in will keep this a fun, enjoyable activity.

Math can also be incorporated in many ways this summer. Cooking, workbooks, figuring out miles on the road trip, practicing math facts, counting money in the piggy bank, and telling time are just a few that will help retain what your child has worked on this year. Keeping the activities fun, and earlier in the day will help your child focus and concentrate on these activities!

LEXIA. Your child’s account is active until July 31st! Please take advantage of this opportunity and have your child continue to use the Lexia program this summer.

Get outside and move around! Children are at risk of losing more than just academic knowledge. Please encourage physical activity all summer long, and this will help your child stay at peak, mental form. Also, summer workbooks are a great idea.

One of my favorite workbooks for the summer is Summer Bridge Activities. Click here for the Amazon link.

Optional Summer Learning Opportunities
Summer learning has a positive impact on both academic and social-emotional development. It provides structure to a child’s summer experiences. It also keeps their academic skills polished and often makes it possible for students to aquire new skills. We have created summer choice learning opportunities for Elementary and Secondary students that incorporate authentic, real-world, learning activities and academic uses for their devices. Please share these summer optional learning ideas with your students, families, & communities.
