Enrollment Process

Round 1 Choice Enrollment for the 2020-2021 School Year is now open.
It will close January 15, 2020 at midnight

Enroll Jeffco

Offers for choice enrollment will start going out on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. 
Families will have 3 days to respond to offers. 


Round 2 Choice Enrollment opens January 21st. Applications are processed as they are received. Offers or waitlist positions will roll out in the order they have been received beginning early March.

If you are placed on a waitlist after Round 1 or during Round 2, you will remain on the waitlist and be sent an offer if space becomes available. If you accept a waitlist offer, any previously accepted offer is automatically void to allow other students the spot if needed.

1. Sign Up for a Tour or Come to an Enrollment Night

Find a tour date that works for you through the link above. Our tours take place on some Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. and last about an hour. We add additional tour dates in December and January. If you decide FHM would be a good educational fit for your child and family, we encourage you to apply through Enroll Jeffco. 
  

2. Apply for Choice Enrollment

You may apply for Round 1 Choice Enrollment through EnrollJeffco between now  and January 15, 2020 at midnight. 

Returning Families 

Before logging into EnrollJeffco, ensure you know your Jeffco Connect login, confirm your contact information is up to date, and you have rights to make decisions for your students (Under Contacts, Access Preferences). Contact Ms. Danae (dfields@jeffcoschools.us) if you do not remember your user name or password. DO NOT create a new account. Indicate in EnrollJeffco if you plan to return to Free Horizon, and you are done. Your placement is guaranteed as long as you confirm by January 15th.

 

New Families 

1. Create an account on Jeffco Connect

 Make sure you have rights to make decisions for your students (Under Contacts, Access Preferences). 

2. In Enroll Jeffco include FHM as one of your school choices. 

During the Round 1 process, enrollment in Jeffco schools is NOT determined on a first-come, first-served basis.  As long as your student’s application is submitted by midnight on January 15, he/she/they will be considered equitably with all other Round 1 applicants.

  

3. Notification of Acceptance

Offers for placement will begin going out on January 28, 2020. You will be notified of an offer of enrollment through EnrollJeffco.  Families have 3 days to accept or decline the enrollment offer.  If we do not hear back within the specified period, we will move on to the next child on our wait list.

 
NOTE: Because we follow the Jeffco Public Schools Choice Enrollment procedures, we are unable to accommodate requests to allow enrollment decision extensions until after a parent attends a tour. We strongly encourage families to attend a tour prior to submitting a request through EnrollJeffco, so that you know whether or not you will want the space when it is offered.

 

4. Complete Enrollment Paperwork 

All enrollment paperwork must be submitted in order to finalize placement.  After this period, we offer available space to the next family on our lottery or wait list.

You will need a copy of: 
- Student Birth Certificate
- Parent/Guardian I.D. (Like driver's license, passport or Colorado I.D.)
- Proof of residency if you live in Jeffco (utility bill, etc)  

We will post the paperwork for the 2020-21 school year when it is available.

5. Attend an Enrollment Orientation, Registration & Visitation Day

Enrollment Orientation:
All parents/guardians who are new to FHM or who have been gone for more than one school year must attend a mandatory Enrollment Orientation.  At this required meeting on May 4, 2020 at 8:30 am, we discuss the school’s philosophy, general policies, and procedures, and answer questions you might have.  This foundational meeting supports the connection between home and school necessary for a successful educational experience.  

New Student Visitation:
This is the time that new students are invited to visit our school to see the campus, meet some teachers and students, and get a sense of what they might expect at FHM.  We find that students who attend a visitation have a smoother transition to our program and approach the change in schools with less hesitation and uncertainty. 

Incoming 1st - 8th-grade students can come during a regular school day on May 4, 2020 at 8:30 am and spend time in the classroom while their parent/guardian attends an Enrollment Orientation and completes Annual Registration Paperwork.  In the interest of respecting classroom continuity, we cannot accommodate visitations outside of the scheduled times.  

Incoming Preschool and Kindergarten students are invited to attend an after-school Walk About Visitation with a parent or guardian on May 5, 2020 at 4:00 pm. 


6. Pay Tuition & Fees

Fees vary depending on grade level. See our fees for the 2019/2020 school year for more information.(Subject to change for 2020-21).
